Red Sox Spirit Day

In support of our home town Red Sox playing in the World Series, the Florence Roche community will hold a Red Sox Spirit Day on Friday, October 26th.  Students are encouraged to wear their Red Sox gear or colors to school that day.  If the Red Sox are not your team, than you are welcome to wear your favorite team's colors in support of baseball and the World Series.

Evacuation Drill

Today we successfully completed an evacuation drill.  As a part of our yearly safety plan, our school community practices fire, evacuation and lockdown drills with staff and students.  We would need to evacuate the building during any circumstance that would be deemed unsafe for us to remain inside.  This could happen during the winter months if we lost our heat for an extended period of time among other possible scenarios.  In the event of an actual evacuation, students would be escorted by our staff and representatives from our public safety departments to the American Legion Post on Hollis Street.  

Today's drill had the students and staff evacuate the building and meet on the emergency access road adjacent to our rear parking area.  We evacuated the building in approximately 5 minutes.  Students competed the drill in a quiet and orderly manner and I commended them for their response to our drill.

German Exchange Students Visit FloRo

We had a group of 10 German exchange students who are currently being hosted by GDHS families visit FloRo this afternoon.  Our guests spent time touring the building, sharing their culture in our first grade classrooms, and even singing a traditional folk song in one of our music classes.  

Scholastic Book Fair was a Success!

Thank you to Sara Fieberg and Jen Duane for all of their hard work in planning for and running our fall book fair.  The students were excited to browse all of the books and pick out some great titles.  Our teachers truly appreciate the opportunity to add to their classroom libraries with your generous donations as well.
